M104 lies lown down in the constellation Virgo. It is certainly one of the more impressive of Virgo's galaxies. It is known as the Sombrero galaxy because of it's resemlance to the hat. Visually it bears a lot more resemblance to its name than photographically. It is a spiral and almost edge on to us, the 'brim' of the hat formed by a ring of dust.
