M22 is the brightest and best globular cluster in Sagittarius, appearing larger than the generally accepted 'best' globular in the northern sky, M13. Sadly it is not easily visible from the UK but from further south it is a glorious sight. It contains about 70000 stars and lies about 10000 light years away.
