One of the best known constellations in the northern sky, Orion is a winter visitor. Prominent are the belt stars, Betelgeuse the deep red star at the top, the brilliant Rigel at the bottom and the the 'sword' with M42, the Orion Nebula in the centre. The sword area is shown in close up.
